Forestry Information and Education

Forestry is one of Mississippi’s leading industries, employing more than 50,000 people and pumping over $11 billion dollars a year into the state’s economy.

Sixty-nine percent of Mississippi’s 18.6 million acres of timberland is owned by private, nonindustrial landowners; over 310,000 private landowners own about 13 million acres of Mississippi forestland. Mississippi Forest Facts gives more details.

Mississippi Forestry Association brings together timberland owners, forest products companies, professional foresters, and state agencies to promote good forest stewardship across the state. Mississippi’s forestry community works together to educate and assist timberland owners through programs, educational opportunities, and publications.
