Mississippi Forestry Association (MFA) honored Amanda Box of Madison with the President’s Citation Award on Friday, October 26 at the MFA Annual Meeting in Natchez. The President’s Citation Award is given annually to the MFA member who has served the association with excellence on a particular project. MFA President Art Waymire said, “I chose Amanda because of her work with MFA communication projects during my presidency including the county forestry association strategy meetings and MFA website improvements.”
Box currently works as the Communication and Program Coordinator for Mississippi Forestry Association and serves members statewide by working with MFA’s publications, website and the media. She is instrumental in developing effective communication strategy for MFA to better serve its members and the state of Mississippi. She also contributes to the MFA’s public outreach and education programs, Annual Meeting and County Forestry Associations.
In 2006, Amanda and family moved from Henderson, Tennessee where she taught in the Communication and Literature Department of Freed-Hardeman University. In addition to 14 years of collegiate teaching, Amanda consulted in business and industry teaching communication skills such as public speaking, team building, conflict management, gender differences, customer service, and interpersonal communication. Prior to teaching at Freed-Hardeman University, she taught at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi. Amanda received a B.A degree in Communication from Freed–Hardeman University and a M.A. in communication from Mississippi College.
Box said “The success of our communication will determine our success in every other area. MFA provides a tremendous service for the forestry community in Mississippi and I am pleased to use my experience in academics, business and industry to strengthen MFA’s well established position as the Voice of Forestry.”
Amanda and her husband Chuck, Head Baseball Coach at Jackson Prep, reside in Madison with their two children, Trey (11) and Isabelle (9).
