Mary Peavey, president, Peavey Electronics in Meridian presented a one-of-a-kind Mississippi Forestry Association guitar at the President’s Banquet Thursday, October 25, 2007. Peavey was the keynote speaker at the President’s Banquet, part of MFA’s three day Annual Meeting in Natchez, the largest gathering of the forestry community in Mississippi.

The guitar is a Hartley Peavey (HP) Special Flat Top Electric Guitar, winner of Guitar World's Platinum Award for quality and design. Made by master craftsmen in Peavey’s custom shop, it is a HP Special FT Forest Green, adorned with the Mississippi magnolia tree, a magnolia, and the Mississippi Forestry Association logo.

The auction will be conducted online until December 15, 2007 just in time for Christmas. Go to www.msforestry.net/auction to view a picture of the guitar and to access the online bidding. Instructions for bidding are posted and are simplified so it takes less than five minutes to submit a bid.

Proceeds from the auction will go to benefit the interactive forestry exhibit at the Mississippi Children’s Museum and ongoing Mississippi Forestry Association’s education outreach efforts. Mississippi Children’s museum is slated to be built in 2009 at LeFleur’s Bluff State park in Jackson and will feature Mississippi’s greatest assets including forestry. Mississippi Forestry Association has been invited to be directly involved in the design process of the museum. Please visit http://www.msforestry.net/mschildrensmuseum.php for more information.

Mississippi Forestry Association’s vision is to serve as The Voice of Forestry in Mississippi. In 1938 MFA was formed to guard and grow Mississippi’s forests and that is still the mission today. MFA is the only organization that represents every group in the forestry community. MFA leads the efforts in protecting landowner rights, improving the forest products economy and educating the community about the ecological benefits of healthy, renewable forests and of the forest industry. MFA is a private (non government), nonprofit association. To learn more, visit www.msforestry.net.
