Beginning this Friday, August 24, MFA is launching a radio campaign on the Friday Night Under the Lights football talk show. By advertising on this program, MFA goals are:

  • To build name recognition and awareness for Mississippi Forestry Association, the county forestry associations, and forestry in Mississippi

  • To advertise MFA’s hunt club insurance program

  • To advertise our Mississippi forestry car tags

Mississippi’s local interest in high school football has been thoroughly documented and is at the desired level of local interest. With this radio campaign, MFA can creatively recruit new members, educate the public, and increase revenue for association programs.

Mississippi Forestry Asssociation Executive Vice President Bruce C. Alt said, “Mississippi has a forestry victory story to tell and this campaign will help MFA be louder and clearer as we get our message out. In addition, this campaign will generate revenue for worthy MFA programs.”

Friday Night Under the Lights is a football call-in talk show that covers Mississippi high school football statewide from Memphis to the coast. The program begins after the Friday night football game and runs from 10:00 p.m. to midnight, ideal for listeners and those driving home after the game. Below is a list of the radio stations that are a part of the statewide network. Listeners may also listen live or from a recording on the internet at www.sportsouth.net. Worldwide, listeners may access the show on Live-365. Host Russ Robinson has worked with Friday Night Under the Lights since 1995 and is assisted by Jimmy Glen.

In addition to radio advertising, MFA will have an active link on the Friday Night Under the Lights website so that visitors can easily access www.msforestry.net to get more information about Mississippi forestry, the hunt club program and the First in Forestry license plates. Once visitors click on the MFA link, the homepage is equipped with easily accessible information directly related to our principle campaign goals.

County Forestry Association presidents are a key part of this radio campaign and have been asked to contact their elected county tax assessor to make sure the car tags are prominently displayed and readily available. MFA members are asked to support this radio campaign as well. This campaign is an effective way to begin a conversation to recruit new MFA members, introduce the hunt club liability insurance program and to promote car tag sales. If you haven’t already, please support forestry education outreach in Mississippi by purchasing a car tag as soon as possible so we have a positive forestry message in full view.
